Welcome to Marching in Place

Hello and welcome to the launch of my blog Marching in Place.   This blog is an extension of the book I am writing by the same name.  Are you wondering where the name came from?  Well, a friend of mine used it to describe how it feels to wait.  But for me it described how I have felt with my agoraphobia-stuck in one place.

I will be sharing my experiences, not just with my agoraphobia but with life in general and look forward to hearing about your experiences, thoughts and feelings.  You won’t just hear from me, I have psychologist Dr Daniel Eppler who will also be contributing posts, answering questions and commenting.

So here we go…………

Daniel B. Eppler, Ph.D.

Tammy,

This blog and your book to follow, is a testament both to your courage and your remarkable resilience in the face of seemingly insurmountable adversity and impending doom. Your readers will certainly laugh at times, they may even shed a few tears, but most undoubtedly they will be buoyed up by your optimism and courage – knowing that since you were able to overcome all this, that they too are capable of overcoming any and all personal challenges.

On a more technical note: Referencing Tyler Bennett’s comments about believing he has a “little Agoraphobia” that is certainly possible. All mental disorders actually exist on a continuum or range, and if Mr. Bennett does have a mild version of Agoraphobia, then it can certainly get worse if left untreated. Agoraphobia, is actually connected to, or is an extension of, a larger group of disorders called Anxiety Disorders.

The really positive aspect of viewing Mental Disorders of any kind, as being on a continuum, is that all of us have the potential to move up and/or down that range. Both getting better as well as potentially getting worse.

I didn’t know there was a name for this. I think I have a little agoraphobia. I will be keeping a look out for updates and your book.
